I’ll be the first to admit that I love testing out new skincare products. It seems like there is always a new revolutionary ingredient or rediscovered ancient technique, and I’m all about trying something at least once! If you’re like me, you probably have a cabinet full of serums, creams, toners, cleansers, mists, retinol formulas, and more. It can be a bit daunting to know when and how to apply everything during your morning and nightly routines. Today I’m sharing with you the best order to apply your skincare products, focusing on my new favorite beauty line made right here in Texas, Colleen Rothschild.

I get especially excited to try out a line of products that people swear by, and Colleen Rothschild is one of those cult favorite brands. Colleen launched her company with 20+ years under her belt of working on the manufacturing side of other skincare lines. With those years of experience and firsthand knowledge of what does and doesn’t work in the beauty industry, she created her own line of beauty products. After using her products in a consistant routine for over a month now, I have to say that I totally get why people love them: they really do work. Keep reading for my favorite products that I’ve tried so far, as well as the best order to apply them for optimal results!

Cleanser

First thing is first — start with your cleanser morning and night. You want to be sure to clean out all of the impurities that have built up in your pores before you put ingredients on your skin. Colleen Rothschild’s Radiant Cleansing Balm is perfect if you want a deep clean but don’t want to dry out your skin. It’s a thick balm that you apply all over your skin before wiping off with a warm damp cloth. It truly feels like a mini at home facial!  (Also, if you are double cleansing, this is the perfect first step!  For the second, we recommend this one!)

Toner

Now that your skin is clean, apply a toner to help prevent bacteria build up and future break outs. I simply douse a cotton pad with toner and swipe it across my face and neck. It feels so tingly and refreshing! I love this Matcha Tea Treatment toner by Colleen Rothschild.

Serum

Now that your skin is refreshed, it’s time to let a serum work its magic. Serums are a great post-cleanser product for restoring your skin’s complexion and giving your face a smooth texture. My biggest skincare battles are pore size and uneven skin tone and this step is so important to fight both! I like to use an anti-aging serum, like this amazing Age Renewal Serum by Colleen Rothschild, that helps balance my skin tone and while correcting fine lines.

Eye Cream

When I look in the mirror, the first thing I see is my tired under eyes.  In the last fews years (I am 34), I have really seen how important it is to take extra care of this sensitive area.  I also recently learned that your under eyes get the most dehydrated so you should apply your eye cream first so they dont suck up the moisture from your face moisturizer.  (So interesting, right?!)  This Complete Eye Cream tackles multiple eye aging issues at once including puffiness, dark circles, wrinkles, and fine lines. My eye area feels very refreshed after applying this and I can definitely see improvement after consistently using it for the last month!

Moisturizer

After your serum has some time to absorb, follow up with a hydrating moisturizer all over your face and neck. This Sheer Renewal Cream is their hero product and one of their best sellers and for good reason!  The weightless hydration is perfect for wearing under make-up. Plus, it promotes new cell turnover to help minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles which I definitely have to be cognizant of at this age. I also love that it provides a breathable barrier that offers broad environmental defense from future damage.

Nighttime Facial Oil

After a long day of running around, it’s nice to wind down with a little extra skin treatment. After cleansing with the Radiant Cleansing Balm, I love applying this Retinol Supreme Night Oil. In addition to the retinol that boosts your skin’s natural repair process, this oil has nine plant-based oils that makes this treatment super moisturizing. If you’re looking for a retinol treatment that isn’t an oil, try out the Retinol Treatment Complex. After it settles into my skin, I like to follow up with a layer of moisturizer for extra hydration.  I wake up with my skin feeling so smooth and bright after a night of using this!  I feel so much more confident going make-up free on mornings after I use my facial oil!
