Tour the Hill Country Home of Caroline Harper Knapp of House of Harper

After over a year of helping my parents build their dream home away from home in the Texas Hill Country, I am so excited to share with you what we have been working on! Many of you follow along on Instagram and have seen a few sneak peeks as we traveled to the ranch for site visits and long family weekends, but this week I will be breaking down this already well loved space with you room by room!

For the first peek, I am sharing the exterior of the house with you as my favorite part of the ranch are the views and outdoor spaces. We enjoy coffee on the front porch every morning to watch the sunrise and cocktails on the back porch every evening to watch the epic sunsets. If you are quiet enough, deer will come up to visit while you relax and take in the views of the Texas Hill Country, my favorite Texas landscape!

I was so excited to help my parents bring their dream second home to life. They purchased this property over ten years ago with a small three bedroom ‘hunter’s cabin’ on the property. We have used and loved the little cabin for over a decade, but with our growing family, it just couldn’t accommodate our whole family at one time. My parents wanted a place we could all come and enjoy spending time together. (They have three children and seven grandchildren.) So about two years ago, my dad started scouting the site, building the road, and bringing in water and electricity so that a new home could be built. I came in when he started working with the architect to help with layout and design. It was such a fun project to work with on my parents and I just hope they love it as much as I do!

I also got to collaborated with some of my favorite home brands on this project including Circa Lighting. You can see their beautiful outdoor sconces flanking the front door and lighting up our back porch. I am not going to lie, I liked them so much I wanted to confiscate them and bring them back to Houston for our home!
