I’m thankfully escaping the Houston heat wave this weekend in L.A. with my college girlfriends. It seems like multiple cities are under a heat advisory over the next couple of days, so I hope everyone is keeping cool and staying indoors! Here are a few of our favorite reads from this week to enjoy in the comfort of your home’s A/C. xo

  1. Smeaches Recipe: We love this fruity twist on a summer classic! It’s the perfect recipe to whip up at your next patio party or neighborhood BBQ.

2. Thai Boys Recall Battle to Survive Cave Ordeal – and the Moment They were Found: The group of young Thai boys who were rescued from a flooded underground cave after being trapped for 10 days are finally speaking out about the ordeal. Their rescue was nothing short of a miracle, and their perseverance is inspiring!

3. Smoothie Bowls and Meal Prep: A Brooklyn Nutritionist’s Money Diary: We recommend taking a page from this Brooklyn nutritionist who decided to take a closer look at what she was eating and spending in a given week. By writing down exactly what you’re spending on food, it allows you to more effectively budget for groceries and dining out.

4. Serena Williams Sends a Message to Mothers After Wimbledon Loss: Williams spoke out after her loss at Wimbledon last weekend, saying that she was playing for mothers everywhere. A champion in every sense of the word, Serena Williams is proof that mothers can return to work better than ever!

5. Reunification of Migrant Families: Now that the Trump Administration has been ordered to reunite migrant families, it is proving to be easier said than done. Though the Administration has agreed that reunification is the best course of action, they are having trouble finding the parents of many of the recently separated children.

Today we are talking about a more serious topic than usual: mental health. After the tragic passings of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, there is a push more than ever before to open up about mental health. We feel firmly that it is crucial to put away the negative stigmas, and focus on how we can best support those around us who are struggling, and speak up if we need help for ourselves. We are incredibly honored that two inspiring women opened up with House of Harper about their own personal mental health journeys so that we can share their advice with you.

To be honest, there is a lot of hype created around the Nordstrom sale because it is a great way for bloggers to make a commission off your purchases.  But I am not going to sit here and tell you that you need to spend thousands of dollars on things you don’t really need.  I do however want to share some of my favorite products in each category should you be in the market for that item.

So today we are talking beauty which I think has some of the best deals in the sale because beauty product typically don’t ever get marked down.  Plus, we all need essentials like a good exfoliator and skincare set.  The other items on this list are items you may not splurge on at regular price (like a T3 hairdryer), but when it’s on sale it is simply too good to resist.  Last year, this silk pillow case was the best seller on our beauty round up and its a favorite product with team HoH, as well! I also bought this Nude Lip Set in last years sale and have restocked it since – Pillow Talk is a cult favorite and now my personal favorite, as well!

The sale opens to the public tomorrow if you aren’t a card holder (like me)!  Don’t miss our clothes + accessories round-up from this post!
