It’s funny how trends cycle through and one of my favorite prints is back in a big way! I’ve been seeing polka dots everywhere and on everything, and I love it! I’m a huge fan of polka dots — you may remember this favorite look from last summer (or if you really want a blast from the past, go back and look at these post!). What I love about polka dot prints is that they are seasonless — you can start wearing these pieces now and then keep wearing them during the fall months! I’m obsessed with these sneakers(under $100!), this pretty midi dress, and this wicker bag that I’ve been eyeing and is now on final sale! Happy shopping!

Plus, how can you not have a great day while wearing polka dots?? Read on below for more of how I’m styling one of my favorite trends for fall.

TGIF! I am so excited for a long weekend at home with FMK with very little on our schedule. After a hectic fashion week, I am looking forward to cleaning our apartment, dinners at home, and a possible movie night (we are so behind in this department!).

I found this polka dot dress on the sale rack at H&M for $20 (!) last week, and I knew it would find a place in the NYFW line up. Sure enough, last Friday asos & Currently Obsessed.Me kicked off New York Fashion Week with a stylish soiree at the SoHo House for their top bloggers. It was a fun evening with some of my favorite stylish ladies and some new friends as well.
My cute friend, Jessie, called the pairing of the spotted tights and dress ‘polka dot blocking’ and it stuck. Hence the title of the post. 🙂
All the hustle and bustle has left me feeling under the weather. Here’s to a restful weekend for us all!

I love when a classic print makes a reappearance on the runways. In addition to leopard print (which I love!), I’m also excited to wear plaid this fall. Plaid has been a trend that we’ve seen come and go over the years, but it remains a classic. It can be styled bold and over the top, or traditional and understated. Read on below for how we’re wearing plaid this season!
I recently expressed my love for fall tweed and coincidentally found this beautiful version from Hunter Bell the next day! I love mixing prints with tweed and how perfect is the print of the moment, polka dots, with this colorful …
While this winning combination brings a smile to my face, the luncheon I wore it to was a little heavier, to say the least. Last Wednesday, Hunter, Donae and I hosted the Women Who Shape Houston Luncheon in partnership with Crime Stoppers CEO Rania Mankarious. Over chicken salad and chocolate mousse in Tony’s luxe San Remo Room, we listened and learned about horrifying statistics of sexual assault, sex trafficking, bullying and date rape drugs right here in our beloved city of Houston.
These are all tough topics that a few years ago I would have thought fell strictly under the “do not discuss category” here on HOUSE of HARPER. However, the unfortunate reality is that despite Houston being named the new capital of Southern Cool, we also hold the disgraceful title of the number one city for sex trafficking in the country. Clearly not one we are proud of, but at the same time one that can’t simply be ignored.
Read on below for more information on these prevalent issues in our city, and how you can help prevent these situations by talking to your own children about these tough, and very real topics.

You all know (and probably share) my love for polka dots so I had to scoop up this cute little maternity top. So far, it has been great for work with black skinnies or with a simple pair of black shorts (seen here) to try and beat this New York humidity!
First, thank you all for your sweet messages! FMK and I are safe, but unfortunately without power and water at our apartment. We have packed our bags and headed down all 26 flights of stairs to seek refuge at our sweet friends in the Upper East Side.
I took these pictures on Saturday before the storm. I have gotten so much wear out of my polka dot jeans, I love finding new ways to style them. This playful weekend look of mixing stripes and polka dots might be my favorite, yet. As it gets colder outside, I plan to pair them with this cozy sweater.

My love for polka dots is no secret so I am sure it doesn’t come as a surprise to you that when the lovely ladies at Paige Denim invited me to pick out a new style from their collection, I picked out these babies. If you follow me on instagram, you have seen me wear them more casual with a denim shirt, but yesterday I made them a little more work appropriate with a black blazer and nude pumps.
If you love polka dots as much as I do, check out these older post for more style inspiration: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Being a lover of all things spotted, you can imagine my excitement when polka dots were all over the fall 2011 runways. However, this will not be a new pattern to add to my wardrobe.
I got this little gem for a steal at a Neiman Marcus employee sample sale (Oh, how I miss those!) when I was living and working in Dallas. Since I am a sucker for polka dots, I couldn’t pass it up, and it has proven to be well worth the money as I am still wearing it today.
Speaking of runways, I am off to the Carolina Herrera show this morning. Make sure to follow me on twitter for full coverage. Happy Monday to you all!

It seems impossible to be saying this, but as we are already flying through the month of August, I have started thinking about clothes that will transition into fall when shopping. I picked up these great red skinnies that are right on trend for summer, but with colored pants all over the fall runways, they will carry me through the rest of the year perfectly.
I paired the solid pants with this busy poke-a-dot top to balance the outfit, and I think it made for a fun casual vibe. Plus, you know how I feel about polka dots (see here & here)!
A fun look back on my favorite fashion moments (and my growing bump) from 2013! Thank y’all for joining me on this journey. I truly couldn’t do it without you. Cheers to an even better 2014!
