I fell in love with this ASOS dress for the embellished collar and sleeves (and for the price tag)! I love the idea of wearing a non-traditional holiday color like this blush pink so you can wear the dress into the New Year without feeling like a Christmas tree. ;)

Speaking of Christmas, tomorrow is the 20th (eek!) and with everything my family had going on the last six weeks, I am SO BEHIND on my Christmas shopping! Seriously. I am locking myself in my office when Knox goes down tonight and to try to knock everything I can out online! If you still have some shopping to do, but are stuck on ideas, be sure to check out my gift tab for some inspiration! I also rounded up my Top 10 List for Neiman Marcus on their blog if you want to check that out, as well!

Happy Friday!

alamo drive happy challenge_6

Traveling has always been a big part of my life. Growing up a pilot’s daughter, I took my first flight at only 5 weeks old to visit my grandparents. I honestly believe all the family vacations we took, the places we traveled and the experiences we gained played a major role into the person I am today.

Because traveling played such a major role in my life, it is important to me to give our son, Knox, the same adventures and experiences. So one of our New Year resolutions is my #AlamoDriveHappy resolution – to give Knox a new experience on every trip we take. This is important to me because I want to make sure Knox experiences the cultures, the food and the people of the places we visit. It’s a great big world out there with so much to offer so it is our goal to veer off the ‘tourist’ route and do something a local would do on every vacation.

Through my past Alamo post and during our Twitter chat, we talked a lot about #MomProblems that come with traveling and how we can prevent our trips from being ‘basic’. It is my hope through this resolution of sorts that it will take our family travel beyond basic while also solving a few of those problems we discussed. It is sure to solve the boredom aspect because who could be bored when you are experiencing something new and exciting?!

Simmons ComforPedic By Beautyrest_9
The older I get, the more I understand the importance of a quality mattress. Maybe it was the sleepless nights with a new-born or maybe it was my aching back (actually it was both) that made me realize it was time to (seriously) start thinking about a new mattress, but we finally made the switch.  And let me tell you – it. was. life changing.

The first night we slept on the our new ComforPedic IQ, we noticed a significant improvement.  FMK fell asleep minutes after getting to bed verses his usual tossing and turning and I felt like I had the back support I needed while still feeling like I was sleeping on a cloud.  We also usually have temperature issues.  FMK is always hot and makes a normal bed feel like an oven, but with the Ultra Cool Memory Foam, the mattress stayed cool and neither one of us woke up hot.  And, one week in to sleeping on our new ComforPedic IQ, I no longer wake up in the morning with a back ache.

Now, my only regret is waiting so long.
