Cold and flu season is in full swing and it seems like everyone has been dropping like flies! With new work and health goals set for 2019, it’s the worst time of year to get sick. We’re fans of Starbucks’ Medicine Ball, but of course one of our 2019 resolutions is to spend less on to-go beverages! We’re sharing an immunity tea recipe from Erin O’Leary Stewart, the Co-Founder of DEFINE foods, that will help you avoid catching a cold from your kiddos or coworkers. Read on below for her simple recipe and enjoy making this delicious drink at home!

Immunity Tea

Ingredients:

1 garlic clove

1 thumb-sized piece fresh turmeric root

1 thumb-sized piece fresh ginger root

2 cups water

2-3 lemon slices

1-2 Tbsp raw, local honey

Directions:

Grate the garlic, turmeric and ginger root into a small saucepan. Add the water and the lemon slices. Bring to a boil. Then lower heat to simmer and cook allow to cook for 3-5 minutes. Strain and serve with raw, local honey.

If you’d rather brew a cup of tea instead of make an at-home concoction, Erin recommends DEFINE foods’ Protect Tea which is a decaffeinated herbal blend of peppercorn, turmeric, and ginger. It can be combined with coconut or almond milk for a delicious latte.
