I have been traveling in this Cuyana cape for years.... literally (hello 2014). But honestly, there just isn't anything better. -Shop the Post- [show_shopthepost_widget id="2874009"] Photographed by Lydia Hudgens I wore this on our recent jaunt to New York and I …

I love that classic buffalo print is back and it isn’t just for sitting around the campfire! I have lived in this Madewell cape when running around town or just hanging with the boys at the house. And when you really love something, why not double up on it?! So, of course, I I paired it with a matching clutch.

I picked out this fur collar cape to wear during the holidays while I was still pregnant. I knew it would be something that I would enjoy post pregnancy and it is perfect for the mild winters in Houston. I love that I can wear it with denim or drape it over my shoulders over a cocktail dress. But in the mean time, it is pretty forgiving of my post pregnancy body. I love an investment that covers all your bases! 😉

Labor Day is quickly approaching which means I’m trying to get the most wear out of the white pieces in my closet. BUT, I also am a firm believer in wearing white after Labor Day if styled in a fall-appropriate way. Read on below for my tips on styling your favorite whites from now through the fall season.

We are continuing our Gift Guide series this week for the travel lovers in your life. Who doesn’t love a great luggage set (this comes in so many great colors!) or the perfect travel accessory? I accidentally bought myself this carry on during Black Friday sales and I will be wrapping under the tree as a little to me, from me gift. 😉 If you don’t already own the Cuyana cape, it’s time to pull the trigger. I have literally been traveling in this for four years now and it never gets old. How are you coming on all your holiday shopping? I am finishing up the last ones this week so I don’t have to worry about shipping!

I realized something about my post pregnancy style as I was editing this post… apparently I am a big fan of capes. (Sorry, but I have another in the queue.) I guess now that I realize it, it makes perfect sense. They make it easy to nurse in privacy, they conceal your post pregnancy imperfections and they are easy to throw on and feel put together, but don’t take much effort. (Win, win & win!)

This is my typical winter travel outfit because it is just so comfortable and practical. You last saw me traveling in this cape here with a white blouse and jeans so I decided to switch it up and go a little more comfortable in leggings and a soft blouse. (I was still nursing in the last outfit so the button up blouse was key.)
My work trip to Charleston got cancelled yesterday due to the weather on the east coast, but we are rescheduled for late February so we all have to wait for more beautiful Charleston pictures. But, I am sure you will be seeing another variation of this outfit when I head to New York in two weeks! What is your go-to travel attire?

I discovered San Francisco based Cuyana last year after I spotted their monogram tote, and I have been obsessed ever since. (Remember this cape? Perfection!) Their mission to “celebrate a life filled with fewer, better things” is a motto I appreciate and strive for when it comes to my own closet. Their collections are a balance of classic styles with a modern aesthetic. By selling directly to customers (and not through other retailers), Cuyana is able to offer luxury products sourced from the world’s highest quality materials at attainable prices.
When their team told me they created The Perfect Blouse, there was no doubt in my mind that it would be anything less than perfect. So, I took the blouse from a casual brunch with friends, to an afternoon of shopping and finally on a date night with FMK. It flawlessly transitioned every outfit to a comfortable and stylish look throughout the day. By dinner, it still looked fresh and I felt polished layering it under a leather dress.
If you are looking to invest in quality pieces for your closet this fall, a classic blouse should be at the top of your list. It’s probably the most versatile wardrobe staple and, when done right, can keep you looking elegant with a simple pair of leggings or jeans.

I never travel without my Cuyana cape (last seen here). It looks elegant and chic, but feels cozy and keeps me warm on the airplane. Win, win!
I am loving loafers in pops of color this spring (last seen here). This pair is from the Paris brand Bobbies. They are handmade in Portugal and incredibly comfortable. I am kind of obsessed!
Never underestimate the power of a crisp white blouse. This is a wardrobe essential that is worth investing in a little higher quality that will hold up through the years because it’s not ever going to go out of style.

I can’t believe it has almost been two years since we made our move from NYC back to Texas. Houston is my husband’s home town and it quickly felt like home to me, as well. We have the Knapp family here and my family is just a few hours north. We have so many friends from college and even FMK’s childhood that made our transition so easy! I even reconnected with my childhood friend, Kate, who is also now my photographer. And our youngest, Drew, was just baptized in the same church that Fred was baptized in. In other words, there are so many personal reasons we love this city, but there is so much more to love that I want to start sharing some of my favorite spots with you! I am going to launch a city guide soon, but in the mean time, here are a few of my favorite things to love about this city (I bet you didn’t know most of them)!

For me, it is so important that I get out of the house during the day. Even if it is just to get a cup of coffee or run a quick errand. Sometimes it is 3:00pm and Knox is waking up from his nap and I realize that I am still in my pj’s! It is days like this I need to thrown on a presentable outfit, grab the boys, and head out the door… for my sanity. Luckily, I have been blessed with two really good babies who sleep and eat pretty well. In fact, I think they enjoy our little outings as much as I do. (I keep Andrew in his car seat that attaches to his stroller and we have a car seat blanket that hangs over the top to protect him from any germs, if we are in a public place. Of course, it is so important to be smart about where you take a newborn.)
This is a typical ‘mom’ outfit for me during the week. It is comfortable and effortless: flat boots, a go-to stripe t-shirt, a cape that doubles as a scarf to keep warm + a pair of coated denim to step up your style game so you don’t feel like you are wearing just any old pair of jeans.

Spreading little bits of cheer around the holidays is one of my favorite things about the Christmas season. I love seeing all the small acts of kindness and love spread around. If you are looking for the perfect something for everyone from your mailman to your neighbors, coworkers, and loved ones, GODIVA chocolate makes everyone’s holidays sweeter! I love enjoying mine with everything from my morning coffee (shhh!) to my after dinner treat!

We experienced some pretty heavy rain here in Houston this weekend and my hometown of Corsicana got a record-breaking 20″! As you can imagine, we were stuck in doors most the weekend and the grey weather seemed to inspire my outfit choices when the sun finally decided to come out. I had wanted a pair of grey jeans so I figured why wait until next fall? So I found these cute maternity ones. I really wanted to wear an all grey look with a turtleneck like this one, but I couldn’t find one to fit my bump so all you non-preggos will have to style it this way for me to live vicariously through you. 😉
A fun look back on my favorite fashion moments (and my growing bump) from 2013! Thank y’all for joining me on this journey. I truly couldn’t do it without you. Cheers to an even better 2014!
