My photographer, Kate, and I had the pleasure meeting Michael of Savoie Art on the last day of his mural painting in Houston’s midtown. It was so neat to meet him and hear about his journey as an artist. This particular piece was sponsored by Russell Simmon’s foundation that supports emerging multicultural artists, providing them an opportunity to showcase their works on national and regional levels.

If you live in the area, be sure to check it out! The mural will have it’s official unveil on June 18th at the corner of Smith and Elgin. Savoie’s work has been featured on the Fox hit show “Empire,” as well as in an exhibition at the Houston Museum of African Art and Culture.

Michael was even kind enough to let me pretend to help him put the finishing touches on for a little photo opt. Of course, I color coordinated my handbag and shoes to my favorite color – the hot pink!
