Labor Day is quickly approaching which means I’m trying to get the most wear out of the white pieces in my closet. BUT, I also am a firm believer in wearing white after Labor Day if styled in a fall-appropriate way. Read on below for my tips on styling your favorite whites from now through the fall season.

The LWD (Little White Dress)

I love wearing LWD long after Labor Day.  I love this one because it’s work-appropriate and can even be styled during the winter months with tights and booties. The key to wearing a LWD in the fall is to layer a moto jacket and avoid white dresses that are a super lightweight fabric – like linen or a breezy cotton – and stick to heavier fabrics and textures.

Dark Accessories

After Labor Day, I love pairing my whites with darker accessories – like a black leather handbag and booties – for a stark, on-trend contrast. It immediately gives the look a fall vibe, and I love how crisp and bright white fabric looks during the colder months when I typically gravitate towards darker colors.

Textured Fabric

White clothing pieces made with textured patterns or heavier fabrics feel immediately more fall-appropriate. I love wearing white sweaters or heavier wool blend tops and pants during the fall season.

Long Sleeves Paired with a Short Hemline

During those early fall weeks when it’s still pretty warm out (which we get a lot of in Houston!), I love pairing a shorter hemline skirt or structured short with a white blazer or long sleeve top for a nice juxtaposition. This look is great for work, dinner, and weekend brunch with the girls.

Cozy Accessories

When it starts getting colder, I love pairing my favorite white denim with cozy accessories like this camel wrap and booties. People typically stash their white jeans away after Labor Day, but I love wearing them through year around!

Denim + White

I wear denim weekly and love pairing my “summer whites” with blue jeans during the fall months. You can even pull off your favorite white sleeveless top in the fall if you layer it under a blazer or leather jacket with your favorite denim.
