STRIPED MAXI

I am sorry for the late post today, I flew to NYC this morning and unfortunately my inflight WiFi was a little less than reliable.

I am trying not to complain about the heat on here too much because everyone knows Houston is brutal in July and August (but come visit us in February and you will be jealous)!  But dressing for the weather is a real thing and right now, I am living in shorts and summer dresses.  This is also a great travel outfit which is fitting for today’s post. 😉

I can not believe it has officially been a year since our big move back to Texas. This trip couldn’t have come at a better time because I was really missing the city we called home for four years. I’m sure it is the brutal Houston summer that is giving me major nostalgia, but it has also been almost 6 months since my last visit which is just extremely too long – the longest I have gone in the last 5 years!

I am staying in the first neighborhood we called home, the Upper West side. I can’t wait to take a morning walk in the park, walk past our first apartment, eat at our favorite neighborhood spots, and catch up with old friends! I even ordered this shirt to wear on the plane because I am a total nerd like that!

Is it just me or do you go into Super Mom mode before you leave on a trip? I will only be gone 48 hours, but I have this overwhelming urge to get everything in order before I can leave town. FMK asked me if I was already started to nest as I was racing around the house yesterday. I organized my to-do list, picked up the house, went to the grocery store, cleaned out my car, cleaned off my desk, made a pot roast for FMK and Knox for dinner tonight, put pigs in the blanket in the oven for breakfast this morning, etc. etc. I swear, I need to book a monthly trip just to keep myself on top of things!

Lucky for me, I have two more NYC trips booked in the next month so even though this is a short one, I can get my fix until next time! Be sure to follow along on snapchat + instagram (@houseofharper)!
