Fred and I have a little Friday night tradition that we always grill out on Friday nights, after the kids go to bed.  I am in charge of the appetizer and we snack and drink wine while Fred gets everything going on the grill.  It is my favorite night of the week because we are kicking off the weekend and because we can finally truly catch up after all the craziness the week brings for a relaxing night at home together (in our comfy clothes).

Since I usually don’t get started on my task, the appetizer, until after the kids are down, I like to do something quick and easy!  I pull out all the goodies from the fridge and make a flavorful cheese board to hold us over until dinner is ready.  And let’s be honest, if it’s a really good one, you don’t even need dinner after this!

I like to include all the flavors and colors for the perfect cheese board!  Something sweet (red apples, purple grapes, and sweet pickles are all great options), something salty (nuts are easy and add a little crunch and olives are also a colorful option), something savory (meats, we love sausage & prosciutto), something sour (I love green grapes and apples for their flavors and color), and even something spicy (This can come from your nuts or wasabi peas)!

Tip: Use little bowls for any items you want to keep separate from other foods for flavor purposes.
