MODERN TRADITIONAL DINING ROOM1599

My apologies for the Home Tour hiatus, but we have all the images now and we are back on track for our Friday Home Tour series!  Yay!  We are going through the house room by room starting with the entry which we shared here.  So the next natural progression is into the dining room!  (Watch our home tour video here to get a better perspective on the layout.)  I LOVE this room.  The goal when designing this space was to have a formal dinning room for entertaining, but to also have a warm room that wasn’t too stuffy for everyday family dinners, and I think we achieved just that!

This room was a slow process for me.  For some reason, every decision felt so final and permanent.  I think it is because dining room tables are such an investment, I knew I wouldn’t be replacing it any time soon (or ever).  For this reason, I decided to go super traditional with our table.  I amazingly found this table on Ebay for a steal, I still can’t believe it!  I already owned four of these chairs from our little breakfast table in NYC so to save some money, I decided to just purchase four more.  But, the Jawdas and I gave them a facelift with a fresh coat of paint and new fabric!

The large armoire was a hand me down from my parents.  They weren’t using it and had it in storage so I got lucky on this piece.  It is great for storing serving pieces and formal items that we don’t use everyday.  You may remember my Target bar-cart from NYC.  It got so much love over the last 5 years, but when I saw this one at The Sale in Houston, I fell in love!

The wallpaper in here is really cool!  The Jawda sisters found this for me, it is actually a commercial paper that is made for high traffic areas which is great for home with young kids.  The curtains are custom and have the perfect amount of sheen!  They are so neutral that they work in every room and since our home is so open we actually used them in the living room and my office (without the formal trim)!  I found this light fixture on Horchow and love the vintage Parisian feel!  Lastly, you see me use these vases everywhere!  They honestly move around to whatever room I am photographing because I love them that much!  Sarah and Saba actually had these for their own home and after I saw them I had to have them for myself!
