Navy and orange little boys room.

FMK says I am nesting, but I just say we have almost been in the house a year and it is time to finally get it looking like it!  We recently hung all the finishing touches in Knox’s room so I am excited to share the finished product with you!

As you can see, it is mostly the same as his nursery in NYC, but a better layout!  (His NYC bedroom was very long and narrow where this room is more of a square.)  One of the changes I made in the new house was switching the red accents out with orange.  It feels a little more modern than the blue and red and I already had the lamp and pillows from our living area in NYC so it was an easy update that made a big impact!

Kids room wire toy baskets.

Baskets are essential for organizing all the toys books and animals that come along with a baby / toddler!  This is one project that is still left on my to-do list though.  I want to stencil labels on the sides (‘toys’, ‘books’, and ‘stuff’).

Knox’s Aunt Sarah got him this toy airplane for his first birthday and it is still a favorite!  Plus, it looks so cute in his room which is a bonus for mom!

I never imagined how important the glider was in a nursery, but we literally spend hours a day in it!  Of course we did in the early nursing days, but even still.  Knox LOVES to read so now instead of eating, we use it for our reading spot.  Make sure you get a comfortable one, you will be glad you did!

I chose an airplane theme for his nursery because it is special to the men in my family.  Both Knox’s grandfather and great-grandfather worked for American Airlines and my father is still an AA pilot.  I also loved the theme because it will grow with him and doesn’t feel like a baby’s room.  The antique airplanes hanging by his baby bed were actually in my dad and brother’s nurseries, as well!

I plan to replace the baby bed with another twin bed when Knox outgrows it.  I think two twin beds with a big boy desk under the window will be all we need to grow the room with him.  I did not want to have to redecorate in a few years when I knew there would be so many other home projects that need to be tackled first.

Knox loves to sleep with his ‘babies’!  There are actually a lot more in his bed, but these are his current favorites (Abby the dog, monkey and gorilla). 😉
