caroline knapp eye tutorial

You may remember my vow to experiment more with make-up here, or you may have noticed in pictures that 99% of the time, my make-up looks the same – with the exception of my lipstick shade, of course.

A few weeks ago one of my best friends from Texas visited me and inspired me to wear a little more eye make-up. This is her everyday look, but for me it is an evening look. The steps are easy, but it creates a little more drama than my neutral day colors. I kept the rest of my look soft with pale pink cheeks + lips and my everyday waves, but have since experimented with a bold red lip + top knot.

To get the look, follow these easy steps:
1. cover eye lid with an eye primer {i used urban decay “greed“}. this helps to hold the make-up all day and prevents creasing. Top off with an all over base color {i used laura mercier “cocoa rose duo”, left shade}

2. apply a light brown shadow (non metallic) in the crease {i used laura mercier “cocoa rose duo”, right shade}

3. apply a dark brown shadow (a little sparkle works here) on the outer edge of the eye {i used chanel les 4 ombre intuition, bottom right}

4. apply a metallic gold in the inner triangle of your eye {i used chanel les 4 ombre intuition, top right}

5. highlight under the brow bone with a white shimmery powder {i used chanel les 4 ombre intuition, top left}

6. apply a dark brown eye liner along top lash line {bobbie brown long wear gel eyeliner “espresso ink”} + finish off with mascara {covergirl lash blast volume mascara}
